AN INTERDENOMINATIONAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH

CORE BELIEFS

  1. THE BIBLE: We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God – the ultimate authority for Christian faith, doctrine and practice (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

  2. THE GODHEAD: We believe in one God existing eternally in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

  3. THE PLAN OF SALVATION: We believe human beings were created sinless and in the image of God, but willfully disobeyed God’s command, allowing sin and death to enter the human condition (Romans 5:12). We believe God became a man in Jesus Christ to live a sinless life, die a sinner’s death on the cross and rise from the dead to save fallen humanity from sin and eternal separation from a holy God (John 3:16; Romans 5:8-10). We believe salvation cannot be earned by human effort, but is a free gift of God’s grace received through repenting and believing in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8). We believe through repenting and believing in Jesus Christ, anyone can receive spiritual new birth, become a child of God, be securely placed in His family and enjoy eternal life with Him forever. (John 1:12-13; 1 John 3:1-2). (Also see A Guide to New Birth)

  4. WATER BAPTISM: We believe one of the first acts of obedience for the believer is to be baptized by immersion, publicly identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus (Acts 2:38-41; Romans 6:3-4). (Also see A Guide to Water Baptism)

  5. THE BAPTISM AND FILLING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe it is the desire and design of Jesus the King to baptize and fill all believers with the Holy Spirit, clothing them with power to be His witnesses in the earth (Acts 1:8). (Also see A Guide to The Baptism and Filling with the Holy Spirit)

  6. THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE: We believe it is God’s will that we are empowered and led by the Holy Spirit in everything we say and do (John 14:26; 16:13-15; Romans 8:1-14). We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that all nine gifts reside in every Spirit-filled believer. The Holy Spirit releases these supernatural enablements as He wills to do Christ’s work (1 Corinthians 12:1-11). We believe in the fruit of the Holy Spirit and that He forms Christ’s character in us, producing the fruit of Christ’s conduct through us (Galatians 5:22-23). We believe in the sanctification of the Holy Spirit and that we progressively grow in holiness as the Spirit daily sets us apart from sin and for righteousness. Over a lifetime, He transforms us more and more into the image of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Timothy 2:20-22).

  7. LOCAL CHURCH RELATIONSHIP: We believe every Christian is called to be a committed and contributing member of a local church body while relating to the greater Body of Christ in the city, the nation and the world. (Acts 2:42; 9:31; Ephesians 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:23-25). We believe every Christian is to financially support the mission of Christ through faithfully paying tithes, generously giving offerings and compassionately releasing charitable gifts (Malachi 3:8-12; 2 Corinthians 9:5-15). (Also see A Guide to Giving)

  8. ETERNAL JUDGMENT: We believe all followers of Christ will stand before Him at the Judgment Seat to be judged for things done in their lives as believers, resulting in receiving or forfeiting eternal rewards (2 Corinthians 5:9-11; Revelation 22:1-5). We believe in heaven and that it is a place of eternal fellowship with God and a place of blessing for all who have repented and believed in Jesus Christ (John 14:1-6; Revelation 7:15-17; 21:1-4). We believe all unbelievers will stand before God at the Great White Throne to be judged for rejecting His revelation, His rule and His offer of grace through Christ Jesus, resulting in eternal separation from God (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10; Hebrews 6:2; Revelation 20:11-15). We believe in hell and that it is the place of eternal suffering and separation from God’s presence and goodness for all who reject His revelation, His rule and His offer of grace through Christ Jesus, as Savior and Lord (Mark 9:42-48; Revelation 20:10-15).

  9. THE GREAT COMMISSION: We believe in Christ’s command to fulfill His mission of getting the gospel to everyone, everywhere and making disciples of all who believe until there is a worshiping group of disciples in every people group on earth (Matthew 24:14; Luke 24:46-49). We believe in evangelism and that all Christians are called to preach the good news of salvation and forgiveness of sins and help spiritually lost people repent and believe in Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15-20; Acts 8:4-12). We believe all Christians are called to become mature disciples of Jesus Christ who make mature disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 6:7; 14:21-22). We believe in the local and global Body of Christ and that it will take a unified effort between Christ’s followers to fulfill Christ’s Commission.

  10. THE KINGDOM OF GOD: We believe in the rule and reign of King Jesus in and through His people enforcing His victory over sin and Satan in this present age (Matthew 16:16-19; Acts 10:38; Colossians 1:13-18; 1 John 3:8). We believe King Jesus will one day return to fully establish His rule and reign over all the earth (Matthew 24:27-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:4-6; 22:1-5).
