Day 18 // May 3
“That man is truly humble who neither claims any personal merit in the sight of God, nor proudly despises brethren, or aims at being thought superior to them, but reckons it enough that he is one of the members of Christ, and desires nothing more than that the Head alone should be exalted.” John Calvin
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:1-3).
Let’s pray this together:
Lord, help us not to do anything out of selfish ambition or foolish vanity, but rather may we desire to develop the godly grace to regard the needs and desires of others as being more important than our own. Teach us to live as Christ lived, in the power of the Spirit, and to glorify Your name in everything we do and say, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
