We heard the Holy Spirit say very clearly, “2017 will be the Year of Light!” Another way to say this is to declare this year The Year of Knowing—knowing God, knowing others, knowing self, knowing the Word and knowing the will and purposes of God for our lives as never before.
Last week we talked about the need to Look to the Light—the Person and Presence of light, the perfection and power of light and the purpose and path of light. The Person and Presence of light is Christ; the perfection and power of light brings clarity; the purpose and path of light points to calling. Looking to the light means that we give undistracted devotion and determination to focus on the radiant revelation that comes only through Jesus Christ, the Light of the World.
This week we are talking about the need to Love the Light. We are called: to love the Person of light, which is the Lord of Light, Jesus; to love the product of light, which is clear and compelling revelation providing proven processes that lead to a desired destination; and to love the path of light, which is a path that leads to knowing more and more the will and way of God for our lives. The more we love the light, the more our lives will be focused and fruitful.
In John 3:19-21, Jesus clearly taught that those who love transparency and truth run to the light so as to be examined and exposed as lovers and workers of righteousness in God. And that those who hate the light flee the light into the darkness because their deeds are evil. Our focus must be a steadfast love and commitment to the Revealer and the revelation He provides.
Loving the Person of Light—We must love deeply the Revealer, and we must love devotedly the revelation that He provides. Jesus is the Light Bearer and the Light Giver. He reveals things as they truly are—the good and bad—the true and false—the righteous and unrighteous. When we run to the Lord, we run to the light. This Person of Light must be our passion in life. We are to be a people who love the Person of Light as well as a people who love persons of light. We are called to run to the light in the Person of Christ Jesus, and we are called to run to the light in the people of Christ Jesus who are committed to transparency and truth.
Loving the Product of Light—The Lord wants to give us clear and compelling revelation providing proven processes that lead to a desired destination. We are always to be engaging in divine processes that lead to the producing of divine outcomes. Divine light produces divine life as we clearly and confidently move forward in God’s plan for our lives. These processes may be painful at times, but the pain of the process will always produce good fruit in the end. In order to engage and embrace these processes, we need the light that Christ provides to lead us on and into our future.
Loving the Path of Light—The path of light leads us to knowing more and more the person, purpose and plans of God for us. We are to join the Person of Light on this path of light—going where He is going and doing what He is doing. We are also to join persons and people of light on this path. We never travel the path of light alone but always with fellow lovers of light who join together in this “well-lit” journey. Let us carry on and steady on in glorious, guiding light.
Remember: Those who love transparency and truth run to the light so as to be examined and exposed as lovers and workers of righteousness in God. The more we love the light, the more our lives will be focused, fruitful and full.
