holiday decor 1It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and we’ve got some beautifully festive ideas for your home this Christmas! Whether you’re a Christmas decorator extraordinaire, or shutter at the through of garland, you’ll find just the motivation and inspiration you need in our December series, “HOLIDAY DECOR: Inspiration For Every Home!

It’s time for all things Christmas, and of course that includes Christmas decor! Eric and Meagan Pavol are members of the New Song Cool Springs congregation, and were the inspiration for this post, as they currently live in a one bedroom apartment. My hope is to encourage anyone reading that no matter what shape or size of your home or your budget, there are simple, easy ways you can decorate for Christmas. Here are a few tips:

  1. Dress up everyday home decor – One simple decor idea is to use what you already have and dress it up with a festive touch! Add pine cones and ornaments to a centerpiece you already have, like Meagan did, or add berries or greenery around your home. These are both small, inexpensive ideas that make a big impact.
  2. Decorate a shelf or TV stand if you don’t have a fireplace mantle – Pinterest is loaded with ideas on how to decorate a mantle for Christmas. If you don’t have a mantle in your home, don’t worry! Take those decor ideas and use them on a different flat surface in your home.
  3. Hang a wreath on the inside of your front door – I love wreaths, but I have lived in apartments like Meagan and Eric’s that do not allow wreaths to be hung outside. Instead of the wreath gathering dust in the storage closet, try hanging it on the inside of the front door.

I hope these ideas have provoked you to think about ways you might be able to dress up everyday decor or place items in unlikely places. Merry Christmas and happy decorating! 🙂
