I have a friend in our Life Group that is great at ‘pinching pennies’. She is always giving me websites or blogs to check out on how to do something more efficient or get something cheaper. Recently she showed me how to make her homemade detergent. So I call it … Glenda’s Laundry Soap!
- 1/3 bar Fels-Naptha soap
- 1 cup washing soda
- 1 cup Borax powder
- 2-3 Gal bucket
- Sauce pan
Grate the soap into the sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat until the soap melts. Add the soda and Borax and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 22 cups of water to the bucket and stir. Let it sit 24 hours then stir again. It will look more like a gel the next day.
NOTE: Use 1/4 cup, for front loader, or 1/2 cup, for top loader, per load. Make sure you shake it well before every use!
